This is the album cover artwork and layout design I created for folk singer; Steph Macleod’s ‘Gold’ album. The album was created with the aim of helping to increase awareness for mental illness.

The design itself was born from the concept of representing an inner beauty and strength that we all possess even during the hardest times, and whilst facing the toughest personal challenges, particularly those that threaten to ‘break’ us. In the image the heart is cracked, worn and breaking apart and through the cracks, a bright ethereal gold spills out. Steph had a pretty clear vision of what he wanted the album cover to show visually and represent so the challenge was to take that idea and run with it, working out the best way to represent and execute the concept.
